"When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive." -Alan Paton
I agree with Paton's statement. You will never be able to get over something and heal if you can't forgive. For example, a drunk driver killed two 20 year old girls. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison and the family of both girls were happy because they thought the judge brought justice. After some time the family of the girls decided to forgive the man and wrote a letter to him. The letter said that they forgive him for what he did. Not only did the family forgive him, but they also asked the judge to cut his time in half. The judge agreed. One of the moms said she did this because the only way to continue healing was to forgive. She was mad for some time when it, but she has learned to forgive and heal. The drunk driver is very thankful and realizes his mistakes.
