"I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong."-Abraham Lincoln I agree with Abraham Lincoln's statement. I think what he is trying to say is that you will fail more than once, but you have to stay loyal with others. No matter how angry you might be you must know that others around you have done nothing wrong. I believe Lincoln wrote this quote because he has failed many times before and he knows that he has to be loyal because others had nothing to do with his failure.

"Character is higher than intellect"- Ralph Waldo Emerson I agree with Emerson's statement. How you act as a person is more important than your intelligence. The most important thing is how you act around others and how you treat others. An example for this statement comes the North Carolina basketball team. When it comes to recruiting new players one of the things he looks at is their character. The first thing he looks at is if they have talent. If they have talent he looks at their character. Character is very important because if you don't have character you can't be a good teammate.

"I trust that my hard work will pay off."-Tyler Haws I agree with Tyler Haws' statement. If you work hard and dedicate yourself to something it pay off into something good. On the hand, if you are lazy and don't want to do anything nothing will pay off. An example of working hard is practicing a sport everyday. If you practice your favorite sport everyday you will not only get better and better, but you might also make your high school or college team. Another example of working hard is studying. When you study you are growing your knowledge and when it comes time for a test your hard work will pay off and you will ace the test. An example of hard work not paying off is not studying for a test. You decide that you only want to watch T.V., so when it  comes time for the test you won't be prepared and you will have to guess.

"True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what's right." -Brigham Young I think in this statement Brigham Young is trying to say that when you do the right thing you gain privileges. Some privileges include independence and freedom. You gain these privileges because when you do the right thing you gain trust. People can can trust you in going places or making your own decisions because they know you will do the right thing. It is  important to do right thing because you don't want to be seen as a disloyal person.

"They're only truly great who are truly good." -George Chapman I agree with George Chapman statement. It doesn't matter what you do if you are not doing it for a good reason. You can get a good score on a test, but if you cheat you are not truly great. The cheater will get credit, but they will feel guilty. Instead, they should have studied. An example of doing something for a good reason happened with a middle school football team. The team was 1 yard away from making a touchdown when one of their teammates "fell." He purposely fell so they can give the touchdown to their disabled teammate. At the end the team and the disabled boy felt so happy.

"Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn't. In addition, using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in sports than a cheater. Don't do it."-George Mitchell I agree with George Mitchell's statement. I don't think this quote only relates to cheating in sports, but also in school and in life. No matter what you cheat on you will always feel guilty. You might be happy at the moment when you get a good result, but in the long run it effects you. An example of cheating in school and feeling guilty is cheating on a test. You might looked over some ones paper that always gets good scores and copy them and when you get your test back you  get a good score and it brings you joy at first. But, later on you start to feel guilty because you didn't work hard to receive that grade, the person you copied off did.
