"A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder." -Thomas Carlyle I agree with Carlye's statement. A rudder is a piece located on the outer part of the ship. Its purpose is to steer the ship when the captain changes the direction of the wheel. Without the rudder being part of the ship the boat would have no direction to go. This relates to a man without a goal because without a goal you would not know what direction to go through. Some people set goals for sports, jobs, or academics. One goal for sports is to be the top leading scorer. A goal for work is to get a promotion within a few months. Lastly, a goal for academics can be to have straight A's all year.

"There is no better feeling than choosing the right" -Joanna  What my statement means is that when you choose the right you will get no better feeling. You can get different emotions, such as joy. On the other hand, if you choose the wrong you will feel guilty and sad. Just do the right thing so you will feel happy about the decision you made.

If there is beauty in character, there will be harmony in the home. If there is harmony in the home,  there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace in the world. Conclusion: If there is beauty in character, there will be peace in the world. -Chinese Proverb I agree with the Chinese Proverb. If we all have good character then there will be peace in the world. There will be peace in the world because everyone will have the six pillars of character. The six pillars of character are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness. honesty, and citizenship. In order to have all these 6 pillars you have to treat others the way you want to be treated. If this rule was followed by  everyone a lot of violence will end and there will be peace.

"When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive." -Alan Paton I agree with Paton's statement. You will never be able to get over something and heal if you can't forgive. For example, a drunk driver killed two 20 year old girls. He was sentenced to 22 years in prison and the family of both girls were happy because they thought the judge brought justice. After some time the family of the girls decided to forgive the man and wrote a letter to him. The letter said that they forgive him for what he did. Not only did the family forgive him, but they also asked the judge to cut his time in half. The judge agreed. One of the moms said she did this because the only way to continue healing was to forgive. She was mad for some time when it, but she has learned to forgive and heal. The drunk driver is very thankful and realizes his mistakes.

Eight great Reasons to Tell the Truth- Barbara A. Lewis Telling the truth lets everyone know what really happened. There's a less chance of misunderstanding, confusion, or conflict Telling the truth protects innocent people from being blamed or punished Telling the truth allows everyone to learn from what happened You usually get into less trouble for telling the truth other than for lying (and getting caught) Other people trust you more when you tell the truth You don't have to tell (and remember) more lies to keep your story straight You gain a reputation for being truthful- a trait most people value Telling the truth helps you to feel secure and peaceful inside I agree with Barbara's eight reasons. As soon as you tell one lie there can be many consequences. There might not only be consequences for you, but also possibly for others. When someone has discovered that there is a lie they try to figure out w...

"Dare to stand alone. Stand up for what is right, even if you stand alone."- Thomas S. Monson  I agree with Monson's statement. Sometimes everyone might be influenced by one person to do the wrong thing but that doesn't mean you should follow their actions. You should do what is right and stay on the CTR path. You never know, if you do what is right some might follow your actions. There might be someone that wants to choose the CTR path, but are two scared because they want to fit in. By seeing someone else, like you break the path can give them the courage to start choosing the right.

"I would rather prefer to fail with honor than win by cheating."- Sophocles I agree with Sophocles statement. If you win by cheating you will feel guilty because you did not work hard to achieve that win. For example, there was a horse racer that cheated in a final race by electrocuting his horse. His horse when originally in 5th place, but when it came to the last lap his horse suddenly passed all the horse and was in first place. A picture taken before the finish line shows Roman Chapa with an electric shocker and he is now accused of cheating. An example of failing with honor comes from Malik Stewart. It was the state championship wrestling match. One of the players wanted to win because his dad was battling cancer. That player ended up winning and what his opponent did shocked everyone. Instead of Malik Stewart leaving the match angry he congratulated his opponent on his win and went over to h is dad and gave  him a hug.

"If I've got correct goals, and if I keep pursuing them the best way I know how, everything will fall into line. If I do the right thing right, I'm going to succeed. -Dan Dierdorf I agree with Dierdorf's statement. If you have good goals and try your best to achieve them, your goals will fall into place. By everything will fall into place I think Dierdorf means that everything will workout and turn out how you wanted. You will succeed only if you do the right thing. For example, if your goal is to make to a famous university you can make it if you strive to reach your goal and be honest by cheating on test or copying someone's work.

"The most important thing you will ever have is good values." -Dennis Prager I agree with Dennis Prager's statement because if you have good values you will be a CTR person. Also, without good values you wouldn't be able to have much love and happiness. Some examples of good values is to give others respect and being honest. An example of having good values is not cheating on a test. Sometimes we are not prepared for a test because we did not study the night before, so when we receive the test we start to panic. We think about cheating and looking at our partners test because it will prevent us from not getting an F, but then we remember about our good values and decide not to cheat and be honest about the mistake you made of not studying.

"The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity(self-worth), integrity, and self -esteem." -Dr. Laura Schlessinger What I think Dr. Schlessinger is trying to say is that when you do something good you might not always get a reward on the outside, but a reward on the inside. You might have more respect for yourself or your self- esteem might increase. You will feel good about what you did. Internal phenomenon is the best reward you can get.

Phillip Riggs' Four Success Tips 1. Work Hard 2. Follow your passion. Do things you are interested in doing  3. Don't chase after money  4. Serve others. Do good things for others, and good things will come to you  I agree with all 4 of Phillip Riggs' Tips. In order to achieve your goals in life you must always work hard and be determined. You must always do something you like because then you will not be happy and not have a good attitude. It is also important to not chase after money. You should do something you enjoy, you shouldn't do something for the money.Lastly, you should be kind and helpful to others. When you are kind and helpful to others, others will treat you the same way.

"Being a C-T-R person isn't always easy, but it's the best person you can be." -Diana Beltran I agree with Diana's statement. There are times when some things will be difficult, but you have to overcome it in order to do the right thing. By doing the right thing you will be the best person you can be and others will think highly of you. Not only will others think highly of you, but you will feel good about yourself.

"In any right moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing."-Theodore Roosevelt I agree with Roosevelt's statement. No matter the situation you are in and have to decide something quick you have to do what is best for others and you. If you pick the wrong choice others will see you as someone that does not care for others. For example, if your friends are trying to convince to cheat on a test but you know it is the wrong thing to do you have to do the right thing and not cheat. You will not only help yourself, but you will also be helping your friends. If your friends see that you are not going to cheat they are probably going to follow your actions and not cheat.

"Nothing is ever gained in doing what's wrong." -Wilford Woodruff I agree with Woodruff's statement because when do something bad you take a step back. What I mean by taking a step back is that there is this line in life where when you do something good you take a step forward in that line, but when you do something bad you go in the opposite direction and take a step back. For example, when you cheat on a test you have done a bad thing and not only would you feel guilty, but you will take a step back in that line. You will also learn the lesson of not cheating anymore and you will take a step forward. Although you have taken a step forward you have not gained anything because you are still on the same spot as when you started.

"It's a great moment when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time." -Pam Knox I agree with Knox's statement because when is a good person with manners they well help those that are struggling. For example, in the final conference game of Western Oregon vs. Central Washington player Sarah Tucholsky form Western Oregon scored her first ever home run in the second inning, second pitch. 3 of her teammates were also on base, so she did a 3 person homerun. Everyone was cheering until they noticed that Sarah was not running to home plate. It turns out that when running Sarah missed 1st base and she turned back to touch it, but when she turned something went wrong. Sarah had injured her knee and acl. She stayed on the floor holding on to first base. Her teammates wanted to help, but they weren't allowed to. This is when player Mallory Holtman and Liz Wallace stepped up at the right time and decided to carry Sarah around the plates ha...

I agree with Maesar's quote because you must always keep your word of honor. When you tell someone that you will do something you must keep your word of honor and do what you said you would do. As a kid you never really keep your word of honor because you don't think much of it. For example, as a kid you tell your parents that you will clean your room, but you never do. As you get older then you start to realize how important it is to keep your word of honor. The more you keep your word, the more people will trust you.

The 10 Indian Commandments

Treat the Earth and all that dwell thereon with respect. Remain close to the Great Spirit. Show great respect for your fellow beings. Work together for the benefit of humankind. Give assistance and kindness wherever needed. Do what you know to be right. Look after the well-being of mind and body. Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good. Be truthful and honest at all times. Take full responsibility for your actions I believe that these are 10 great Indian commandments. These commandments show us how important it is to be kind and responsible. For example, commandment 10 states that you must take responsibility for your actions. As a student if I do something wrong in class and the teacher is questioning everyone who did the bad thing I must let them know it was me. Also, this same thing applies at home. Another example is commandment number 3. If you do not have respect for others you will not be treated with respect.

"A promise must never be broken." -Alexander Hamilton 400 × 400 Images may be subject to copyright I agree with Hamilton because when you make a promise you must keep it. You have told someone that you will do something for sure and if you don't do it in a way you are letting them down. It is important that you stick to your word. An example that I was shown about keeping a promise was from Abraham Lincoln. In the video, it states that before Lincoln mother passed away she told him to promise to never drink and use tobacco products. Many of us do the wrong thing by breaking our promise because we think the person that we made the promise to don't remember.

"Goodness is the only investment that never fails."- Henry David Thoreau I agree with Thoreau's statement because if you are kind and good you will feel good. I think by investment he means that you should spend your time to be nice, to really show someone you care. The point of being good is to help others and brighten up their day. If you are kind and good you will never fail. You will never fail because you will feel good about the good deed you have done. An example of doing something good is giving out cookies, cupcakes, or roses. You can go to any location, such as a police department to show them that we do recongnize their work.

" My basic principle is that you don't make  decisions  because they are easy; you don't make them because they are cheap; you don't make them because they're popular ;  you make them  because  they're right .” -  Theodore  Hesburgh  (Former President of  Notre Dame) I agree with Theodore Hesburgh's statement. Every decision you make you have to do it for the right reasons. You cannot let others influence you into making a bad decision. I think this is a quote that everyone should always remember. An example for this quote is cheating on a test. It may be a popular thing to do and it can be the easy way if you did not study, but it's the wrong choice. It's better to not pass the test then to get credit for someone else's work.
