sTUDENT sUCCESS sTATEMENT

"Only those live who do good." -Count Leo Tolstoy I think this statement means that in order to live a good life you must do good. If you do bad you will feel guilty until you make it right. For example, if you decide to help an elderly cross the street you are doing good and you are going to spend the rest of your day really good about yourself. An example, of doing wrong is seeing someone drop their groceries and not help them. Later on you start to regret what you did and wish to go back to that moment to make it write.

"What's right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right." -Albert Einstein I agree with Albert Einstein statement. Although everyone is under the influence that what they're doing is the right thing because it's "cool", you should never do. You should do the things that might not be as recognized but you know that you are impacting someones life positively. An example of doing what is popular is drinking. Everyone has heard about drinking and that you have to drink to fit in. This is not true. One should not be influenced by what others do. An example of doing the right thing even though it is not recognized is cutting peoples hair. There was a story on the news about a man that would go to the park every Wednesday to got homeless peoples hair. The only payment was a hug.

Cell Phones

Cell phones were first invented in 1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. It wasn't only him that invented the phones; he worked with 12 other collaborators. Once the invented was made and working, Alexander started to promote it. Places he promoted at was the  Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, Emperor of Brazil, and Dom Pedro. Then the first Bell Telephone company was made on July 9, 1877. Later on in his life he started to study flight. I believe telephones are very important because we now use them everyday in our life's. Phones help us talk to people that are in long distance. Now we can talk to people on the other side of the world. Phones also GPS, which helps not get lost. It also gives us the fastest way to get there. Cell phones have improved so much from when they first became released. Now we would be so lost if we didn't have a phone.

"I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that. It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decide that I would change it." -Dr. Ben Carson I agree with Dr. Ben Carson. The only person that can make your future is you. You are the one that decides weather or not you want a better life. You can do anything you set your mind to. Although, if you want to accomplish something you have to work hard to do it. You can not just wait for it to come to you.

Disasters

The event I choose to talk about is the California mudslides.  In January, a massive mudslide occurred killing over 21 people. This all started when the states largest fire occurred, the Thomas fire. The people that lived in the community of Montecito and Santa Barbra were effected by the mudslides. Some lost there home The U.S. forest fire is helping to clean up the mess and possibly get people back to their home The mudslides relate to me and others because some people might know someone or are related to someone that was in the mudslide.

"Even if everyone is doing it, WRONG IS NEVER RIGHT." -Russell M. Nelson I agree with Russell M. Nelson. When something is wrong it is wrong , you can not make it right. An example for this statement is smoking. You should never smoke because it has both short and long term effects. You should try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and not do it. Another example of what is wrong is never right is cheating on a test. You should never cheat on a test because you are only cheating yourself. When you don't know a topic you should go to tutoring and get extra help.

"You can't be right by doing the wrong; you can't be wrong by doing the right." -Thomas S. Monson I agree with Thomas Monson. When something is wrong it's wrong and when something is right it's right. There is nothing you can do or say to change that. An example of this statement is rape. There is nothing you can do or say to change the fact that rape is a horrible thing. Rape causes severe damage to the person. They now live in fear, afraid to out. Another example of this quote is the use of marijuana. Although it can be used to relax you the dangers are much worse. Marijuana increases your chances of getting a stroke or heart attack, and getting skesrhnia.

Harmful Effects of Marijuana

Marijuana has both short and long term effects. The short term effects are hallucinations, delusions, difficulty with thinking and problem-solving, and impaired memory.   5.8% of seniors use marijuana everyday Some ways that you can promote Non- Marijuana use is by handing out posters with its harmful effects and starting a campaign.   I promise to not use marijuana, ever, regardless of what society says.

"Enthusiasm makes the difference"-Dr. Norman Vincent Peale I agree with Dr. Peale because it all depends on how you approach things. When you are excited to try something new you will be glad with the outcome.  When you are sad on trying something new you go with a bad attitude and and don't end up enjoying the experience. I believe this quote is a life lesson. You should always approach things with enthusiasm.

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right."- Dean Smith I think this statement shows how great of a man Dean Smith was. He put himself before others. His priority wasn't to be seen as one of the top coaches, but for his players to always try their best on the court. Not only did he want them to try their best on the court, but also everyday in life. He did his job the right way, so he earned to be called one of the best coaches.

Nursing Home Administrator

Add a Picture or two: Reflection: I would like to be a nursing home administrator because I have the opportunity to help out people through both medical and financial reasons

"It's not about how to achieve your dreams. It's about how to lead your life the RIGHT WAY, the karma (good results, destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you." - Dr. Randy Pausch I agree with this statement. If you go through life doing the right thing, such as help carry someones groceries or open the door for someone, you will receive something good in return. For example, if you help someone carry their groceries they will thank you and maybe one day when you need help someone will help you. The other example is opening the door for someone. In return you will receive a thank you and the pleasure of knowing you did something good. If you do the right thing your will slowly start to come true.

Christmas Break

During the 3 week Christmas break I went to the movies, a party, and read a book. I went to the movies early in the Christmas break and watched Ferdinand. Later on in the break I watched Jumanji. These movies are intended for 2 different audiences. Ferdinand is about a bull that is not the others. He does not want to be a bullfighter like his dad and friends, he just wants to do what humans do on a regular day without being judged. This movie is intended for little kids whereas Jumanji is intended for older kids/ adults. Also, during Christmas break I went to my friends birthday party. It was fun getting to see middle school friends again and talk to them. Lastly, during Christmas break I read a book called the Land of Stories. It was about these two 12 year olds that were taken to another dimension by a book that was given to them. The dimension they were taken to was the fairy tale world and they have to figure out a way to get back home.
