"A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder." -Thomas Carlyle I agree with Carlye's statement. A rudder is a piece located on the outer part of the ship. Its purpose is to steer the ship when the captain changes the direction of the wheel. Without the rudder being part of the ship the boat would have no direction to go. This relates to a man without a goal because without a goal you would not know what direction to go through. Some people set goals for sports, jobs, or academics. One goal for sports is to be the top leading scorer. A goal for work is to get a promotion within a few months. Lastly, a goal for academics can be to have straight A's all year.
